My Dogs Are In My Band

This is one of those things you might not notice…

But once you do, you can’t un-hear it.

There’s a moment in Comeback where something starts to shimmer above the music. It’s subtle. Light. Almost like a bell.

That’s not a synth.

That’s my dogs!

At the time, I had three: Latte, Mari, and Chevy. They were playing in the hallway—full joy mode, wrestling, chasing, just being completely alive. And their collars were jingling in this way that felt… musical. Rhythmic. Bright.

Like they belonged in the song.

I remember hearing it and thinking, wait… that’s something.

So I asked Droo if there was any way—any way at all—to incorporate that sound into the track.

And of course, he was up for it.

If you listen closely, you can hear them.

A little piece of real life woven into the fabric of the song.

It makes me smile every time.

Because Comeback is a song about finding your way back to something true. Something real. Something that was always there, even when it felt far away.

And what’s more real than joy echoing down a hallway?

What’s more honest than a moment you didn’t plan—just recognized?

That’s what music is to me.

Not just something you create.

Something you notice.

Something you’re willing to say,

that belongs.

So yeah…

My dogs are in my band.

And honestly?

They crushed it.

This moment lives inside “Comeback.”If you want to hear it for yourself → listen here.

And if you’re curious how the song came to be → read the origin story.
