3/14/20:
-Wake up
-Vitals are taken and blood is drawn
-I elect to workout in my room
-8am The Doctor of Medicine checks in
-8:15am Nutrition checks in to see if I’m ready for breakfast
-8:30am Breakfast is delivered
-Morning medicine delivered
-AM dose of special mouthwash
-Whiteboard is updated with current blood counts
-I give myself a full body sponge bath
-My bed is given an entirely new set of sheets and blankets
-9:30am The oncologist checks in
-10:15am The Doctor of Medicine, Oncologist, P.A.'s, Social Worker, and Pharmacist all circle the bed together to examine me, discuss my case, and answer any questions
-Someone stops by to take my lunch and dinner order
-My room and belongings get completely sanitized/disinfected
-A scale is wheeled into my room for weigh-in
-A nurse checks my vitals
-Lunch is delivered
-I am given transfusions and IV medications
-My vitals get checked again
-The nursing shift change happens and I am introduced to my new nurse
-They check my vitals
-Someone calls to take my order for tomorrow's breakfast
-A nurse draws my blood for lab testing
-Vitals are checked again
-5:30pm dinner is delivered
-6pm anti-nausea medicine is given to prepare me for chemo
-Evening medicine is delivered
-7pm Chemo begins
-Vitals checked every fifteen minutes for 2 hours
-I rinse with my PM dose of special mouthwash
-I get checked in on every two hours throughout the night
Someone is always available to care about and help me. I feel lucky to have this amazing group of healthcare heroes!
